Student Email Help
You must activate your Student Account prior to receiving, sending, or reading your student email.
If you use following
programs to read email, instead of a web browser, the email will be downloaded
to the computer you use, and will not be accessible unless you change
a setting.

How to set up Netscape
Messenger (version 4.7) to access MATC Student Email
- From the menu,
click on Edit - Preferences
- Open up Mail &
Newsgroups
- Select Identity
Fill in your
name
Fill in your email address (your username@stu.matcmadison.edu)
- Click on Mail Servers
Delete the existing mail server
Click Add and fill in the following fields:
Server Name: stu.matcmadison.edu
Server Type: POP3
User Name: Click on the POP tab
If you don't want the messages downloaded to your computer (so you can
access them later with a browser), click the 'Leave Messages on server'
box.
How to set up Outlook Express
to access MATC Student Email:
- From the menu select Tools,
Accounts
- Click on the Mail tab
Select the line that has "mail (default)" as the type and click on Properties
- Change the email address
to your new email address (your username@stu.matcmadison.edu)
- Click on the Servers tab
For both the POP3 and SMTP server boxes, use stu.matcmadison.edu
Check the box labeled "My server requires authentication"
- Click on the Advanced tab
If you don't want the messages downloaded to your computer (so you can
access them later with a browser), check the 'Leave a copy of Messages
on server' box.
- Click OK, then Close
