Alcohol & Drugs
The use, possession or distribution of alcohol on campus is strictly prohibited except at duly authorized events developed in accordance with Administrative Policy No. 201.
The Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 (Public Law 101-226) requires that all colleges comply with certain standards related to issues surrounding drug abuse prevention on campus. These standards are addressed in MATC Administrative Policies No. 201, 104, and 208. Specifically, the Drug Free Schools Act requires the following:
- That standards of conduct for staff and students specifically prohibit the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol on property or as any part of any Madison Area Technical College event or activity.
- A description of the applicable legal sanctions under local, state, and federal law for unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol.
- Distribution of information designed to increase knowledge and awareness of health risks associated with the use of illicit drugs and alcohol.
- Referral sources available for the student in need of help for a drug or alcohol related problem. Any students seeking help for their or someone else’s alcohol or drug abuse problem, or who would like to obtain more information, may do so by contacting one of the following:
