Turning Point

Turning Point is a program dedicated to helping displaced homemakers (those who have worked in the home for a substantial number of years providing unpaid household services for family members) realize their educational and career goals. Obtaining a degree from an MATC program, transferring to a four-year college and landing a dream job are all opportunities for those ready to get their lives back on track.

Through MATC's Turning Point program, displaced homemakers can receive:

  • Individual support
  • Computer literacy training
  • Instructional workshops
  • Job placement assistance

How to get started

1. For acceptance into the Turning Point program, displaced homemakers must meet the following criteria:

Is not gainfully employed, including being unemployed or underemployed and has difficulty securing employment,
AND
Has been dependent on the income of another household member but is not longer support by such income
OR
Has been dependent on public assistance bus is no longer eligible for such assistance or who may be terminated from such assistance
OR
Is the parent of a minor child(ren) support by public assistance or spousal support but whose children are within two years of reaching their majority.
