Joshua Schiffman , Counselor
My name is Joshua Schiffman, and I began working as a counselor at MATC in August 2007. In my role as a counselor, I work with students individually and in groups, both in and out of the classroom. Specifically, my aim is to help you make the most of your MATC experience by identifying, understanding and ultimately reaching your personal, educational and career goals.
I have a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York [SUNY] at Buffalo, and have spent most of my professional life working with students. I have worked in college counseling at SUNY Buffalo, Marquette University, and UW-Madison, and I have taught courses at SUNY Buffalo, UW-Madison and Oberlin College. And while I enjoyed each of these experiences very much, what I really appreciate about MATC is its tremendous diversity, as seen both through its amazing students, faculty and staff, as well as its wide array of academic and professional opportunities. I look forward to talking with you about how you can best take advantage of all that MATC has to offer!
In my time outside of MATC, I also work as a licensed, private-practice psychologist. In my free time, I enjoy exercise, music, animals and – most of all – spending quiet time with my family.
