Alfonso Studesville, Counselor

My name is Alfonso Studesville, and I’ve been a life long resident of Madison, Wisconsin. I currently live with my wife Jan in the city of Fitchburg. We are the proud parents of one son, Eric, who is currently the Running Backs Coach for the Buffalo Bills Football Team, is married to Stacy, and is the father of my grandchild Sydni Simone.

I’m employed at Madison Area Technical College as a Counselor. Apart from MATC, I’m the President and owner with my wife of Just Nails Studios and Just Nails Training Center in Fitchburg. In my spare time, I serve as member of the South Central Work Force Development Board and Rapid Response Team, serve on committees for the Back-to-School Program -GALA Fund Raising Event – Black History Challenge Bowl and Mentoring Programs for 100 Black Men of Madison, and the Small Business Advisory Committee for the Wisconsin Department of Licensing and Regulation. Recently, I’ve been selected to serve as the Vice President of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute to provide educational and economic solutions to African American groups in Madison.

I am the MATC liaison to displaced workers and alternative programs and am a member of the MATC Retention Committee, the Shared Campaign Committee, and the MATC Small Business board.

Prior to joining MATC, I was employed by Wisconsin Power and Light (now known as Alliant Energy) for 18 years as Human Resource Associate, Technical Training Coordinator, Trade Ally Administrator, Special Projects Coordinator, Customer Service Supervisor and as a Sales Manager for Dane County. I was a high school teacher and counselor at Madison East High School for nine years and the Program Director for South Madison Neighborhood Center (now known as the Boys and Girls Club) for four years. I belong to numerous community groups and professional organizations including the NAACP Education Committee, Charles Hamilton Houston Institute, & Urban League, Wisconsin Association for Career and Technical Education, and State Cosmetology Association .

I earned a Masters degree in Counseling and Guidance at UW-Madison and have a wealth of job experience and training. While I continue my professional development goals, I have decided to bring my business knowledge and leadership skills back to education to work with high school and adult learners. Generally, I’m known as a very enthusiastic and motivating person to work with, according to many of my coworkers.
