Tech Connect Introduction
Are you searching for a part-time job while you are in school? If yes, let me introduce you to TechConnect – your source for employment!
TechConnect is an electronic job posting system. It was developed by employment service representatives from across the Technical College system in the state of Wisconsin. As such, it is used by all 16 of the technical colleges in the state. TechConnect is available in two parts: 1) Non-program jobs and 2) Program jobs.
Access to Tech Connect
To access TechConnect, follow these steps: First, visit the Madison Area Technical College homepage at www.matcmadison.edu. Second, click on the A-Z link. Third, click on the letter “T.” Fourth, search for “TechConnect for Students and Alumni” and click on it.
There are two icons on the left-hand side of the screen: Non Program Jobs and Employment Events. These two icons may be accessed without any registration. The Non Program jobs will list part-time jobs related to programs and other good paying positions posted by our employers who want to hire MATC students. In the center of the screen there is a place to type-in a student id and a password.
Program Jobs
This access is restricted to our “Program Jobs” for students who are within six months of graduating, alumni, or students in a Professional Development class. Contact your nearest Advising and Career Resources office for more details.
Non Program Jobs and General Listings
Once you click on the Non Program icon, there will be several categories, such as Certificates, Student Employment – both on and off campus, and a General Listings category.
If you click on General Listings, a snapshot of many jobs will appear. Please note that the jobs are organized by date that the job expires. Apply as soon as possible as many jobs are often in immediate need and do fill quickly. In the general listings category the positions are listed in the order of deadline date (i.e. the job that expires first is posted first.) Reading from left to right, appears the job title, if the position is full or part-time, the duration of the job, the physical location (i.e. city), the name of the employer, the wage (if provided), and the deadline for applying for the position.
If you click on the position more details will be prompted, such as the address of the employer, the contact name and email address, how to apply, the rate of pay (if provided), and the duties, benefits, and qualifications.
Simply print out the job order and contact the employer as instructed. Don’t forget to tell the employer that you found it posted on TechConnect. I hope that you will find this site helpful with your job search. And certainly I wish you good luck!
