Employment Success Program

The Employment Success Program (E.S.P.) offers ongoing, one-on-one career and employment services to students meeting the Federal Perkins definition of a Special Population Student.  

Career Services:

  • Workplace tours
  • Job shadows
  • Informational interviews

Additionally, students participating in E.S.P. receive increased support in preparing for and conducting a job search. 

Employment Services:

  • One-on-one resume and cover letter writing assistance
  • Interview strategies
  • Mock interviews
  • Assistance identifying prospective employers
  • Placement assistance

Elegibility Criteria:

The Employment Success Program is funded by a Federal Perkins grant to serve students experiencing challenges to finding employment.  To be eligible for services, students must be actively enrolled in a minimum of one credit in a technical course and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Income Based Eligibility - Received need based financial aid in the current financial aid award (Pell Grant), receive income based assistance (i.e. Medicaid, Energy Assistance, SSI, Food Stamps, Workforce Investment Act Dislocated Worker or Youth funding, and/or W2), or demonstrate an annual income that is less than the maximum amounts established by the Department of Commerce. 
  • Disabled - Students with a disability that has been documented by MATC’s Disability Resource Services.
  • Academic Eligibility - Current placement on academic probation (less than a 2.0), or the student possessed a grade point average of less than a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale at their former high school.
  • Single Parent - Student parents, women and men, who are unmarried or legally separated, including single pregnant women.
  • Displaced Homemakers - Enrolled in MATC’s “Turning Point” program.
  • Non-Traditional Student - Students enrolled in a program where 75% of the students are of the opposite gender; ex: Nursing is a non-traditional program for men because 75% of the students are enrolled in the program are women.
  • Limited English Proficiency – Students whose native language is other than English and the student is currently learning English.
