Degree audit

 

What Is A Degree Audit?

A degree audit is a comprehensive representation of student’s degree requirements for their specific program and the progress made towards meeting those requirements. Requirements are listed as “satisfied” or “unsatisfied.” It gives an overview of courses which may be used to fulfill/satisfy a specific requirement.

You can request a degree audit from:

  • The Enrollment Center/Main Office at Downtown, Regional, and Truax campuses
  • Your advisor in the Student Development Center at Downtown, Regional, or Truax Campuses
  • Your program office
  • Your faculty advisor

 

Understanding your degree audit

The Following Is An Outline Of Your Degree Audit:

Name, student id # & address: Make sure your address is accurate. (Check with the enrollment center if you need to add, make corrections or update addresses)

Academic program history: This area lists past and current program(s) enrolled in at MATC chronologically- current program listed last.

Degree awarded: This area lists all degree(s) and conferment dates only if one has been completed at MATC.

 

Academic Advisement Report

For occupational/technical programs, your degree audit has the following areas:

  • Occupational Specific Requirement
  • Occupational Support Requirement
  • General Education Requirement
  • Electives

For the liberal studies program, your degree audit has the following areas:

          Continuing Students

  • English/Speech
  • Health/Wellness/Phy Ed
  • Humanities
  • Math & Natural Sciences
  • Social Science
  • Ethnic Studies and World Language (for those that started or re-entered as of Fall 2006 and thereafter)

New & Reentry Students

  • English/Speech
  • Health/Wellness/Phy Ed
  • Humanities
  • Math & Natural Sciences
  • Social Science
  • Ethnic Studies and World Language (for those that started or re-entered as of Fall 2006 and thereafter)

Note: Bolded areas are requirements not yet satisfied
Areas not bolded are requirements that have been satisfied or are in progress.

Degree requirements satisfied: This area refers to all requirements completed. (it assumes that courses in progress will be successfully completed) under this category is a listing of the following:

  • Term (Semester)                              
  • Course Area
  • Course Number                                
  • Description of Course
  • Number of Units (credits)               
  • Codes (see codes below)
  • Grade obtained (blank if not completed, “T” if transfer credit)

Codes to remember
(Only codes that apply to you will be listed on your audit)

EN__ All courses attempted or completed at MATC.
IP __ Courses currently in progress.
TR __Transfer courses granted advanced standing (grade will be “T”).
TE __ Courses granted credit by testing out, for example, keyboarding.
OT __ Credit awarded through other means, for example experiential credit.

Degree requirements not satisfied: This category refers to all courses not yet completed. Under categories not satisfied is a listing of courses that may fulfill/satisfy the specific category requirement.

Occupational specific requirement: Refers to core program courses.

GPA: (Required/Actual) – Indicates the GPA required in this category and the student’s actual GPA for the category.

Note: The GPA required for occupational specific courses might be different from the GPA required for the general education and elective courses.

Units: (Required/Needed) indicates the total number of credits required in this category, and the total number of credits still needed to complete the requirements.
