Pre-College Programs

Multicultural ResourcesThe MATC Pre-Collegiate Program has been working for years to help high school students successfully graduate from high school. Through various pre-college experiences, the program encourages students to academically prepare for their futures. The program is designed to strengthen study skills and motivate students to reach their highest potential.

The program offers the following support programs:

  • Tutorial Program
  • Study Skills
  • Career Exploration
  • Mentoring
  • Family Enhancement Activities

The program welcomes any high school students who wants:

  • Help completing assignments and improving their grades
  • To prepare for college entrance exams
  • College admission information
  • Financial aid and scholarship information

Activities include:

Summer Youth Academy

Designed to help students obtain hands-on experience with careers they are considering, the Summer Youth Academy starts on the 8th of July and runs until the 1st of August. It is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thurdays from 9:00am until 3:00pm and on Fridays from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

We are accepting applications from 8th graders going into 9th grade, up to 12th graders. Click here for more information and an application.

Youth Career Awareness Project (MY CAP)

The MATC Youth Career Awareness Project (MY CAP) is an academic enhancement program for middle school students with an emphasis on math and reading. Students also are exposed to different career fields. For several years, the program has helped strengthen students' study skills and motivation in school. The following services will help students enter and succeed in high school and achieve their goals.

MY CAP offers the following support programs:

  • Tutorial Program
  • Study Skills
  • Career Exploration
  • Mentoring
  • Family Enhancement Activities
  • MY CAP welcomes any middle school student who has an interest in:
  • Improving their study skills
  • Improving their grades
  • Becoming involved in a mentoring program

MY CAP Program activities include:

  • After School Tutoring
  • Career Exploration Field Trips
  • Family Social Gatherings

Applications for the MY CAP and MPCP are available at the MATC Downtown Education Center.
