Fire Service Certification, 30-503-2

Professionalism
1. Demonstrate professional conduct by displaying personal code of ethics, positive work ethics, flexibility, teamwork skills, physical fitness, safety procedures, and sensitivity to diverse cultures and individuals.

Technical Skills
2. Apply fire suppression tactics to structural, vehicle, and wild fires.
3. Operate and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), power equipment, and hand tools.
4. Recognize, identify and contain hazardous materials within operations level.
5. Apply search and rescue tactics appropriately to situation.
6. Assist Special Rescue Teams as needed at special rescue situations.
7. Observe and report situations found to fire investigators.

Communication Skills
8. Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and through written documentation with clients, coworkers, other agencies and supervisors, by demonstrating listening skills, effective report writing, appropriate radio and telephone techniques, and displaying sensitivity to diverse cultures and individuals.

Professional Certification Standards
9. Meet certification standards for all entry level positions including, but not limited to, Basic EMT, Fire Fighter I & II, and Hazardous Materials Operations.

Leadership
10. Apply critical thinking skills to provide leadership and make decisions to resolve fire/rescue challenges.
