Program Outcomes

IT Network Security Specialist, 10-150-3

Throughout the IT Network Security Specialist program, students acquire various skills that prepare them for a variety of entry-level networking positions.

A student who successfully completes the coursework and graduates from the program will be able to:

  1. Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, & secure routers, switches, firewalls, and virtual private networks.
  2. Detect, analyze, and defend against network and system penetration.
  3. Maintain data, confidentiality, and integrity through data and communication encryption.
  4. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and secure devices in the network (workstations, servers).
  5. Solve problems individually and in a team environment.
  6. Gather, interpret, and analyze data in forensic security investigations.
  7. Determine the role of security in a business.
  8. Recognize ethical responsibilities.
