Baking/Pastry Arts, 31-314-1

Successful students will be able to:

  1. Read and follow written and oral directions in preparing bakery products.
  2. Produce a variety of saleable bakery items in a timely manner.
  3. Evaluate bakery products, identify production problems, and correct, when necessary.
  4. Demonstrate a professional work ethic through appropriate conduct and dress.
  5. Recognize the diverse food cultures of people.
  6. Perform math functions necessary in the baking industry, such as weights and measures.
  7. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the computer as a tool in the baking industry.
  8. Manage time efficiently as it relates to production in a bakery.
  9. Work effectively with others to achieve production goals.
  10. Safely operate equipment and hand tools used in bakeries.
  11. Practice proper state and federal sanitation guidelines.
