Graphic Design, 10-201-1
Graduates of the Graphic Design Program at Madison Area Technical College will:
- Develop and Implement solutions to problems encountered in all phases of the graphic design process.*
- Create effective visual communication through the application of design theories and principles to develop design solutions.
- Apply typographic skills and knowledge to create effective visual communication.
- Create and integrate illustrations and imagery to develop and communicate design solutions.
- Use a variety of technologies to create, capture, and manipulate design elements in producing an appropriately prepared final product.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, hear, follow and give directions, in both verbal and written formats.
- Apply effective business practices and project management skills appropriate to job requirements in the graphic design field.
- Demonstrate professional ethics and collaborate as a productive and responsible team member.
- Manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Assume responsibility for career development and continuing education.
*Graphic design process: the stages (for example, assessment of client needs, solutions development and analysis, collaboration, concept design client consultation, pre-press, production) involved in the creation of designs and illustrations which effectively communicate the clients’ messages to their target audience.
