Farm Business and Production Management, 30-090-1

  1. Environmental Stewardship — Apply appropriate conservation and energy techniques for sound environmental management.
  2. Marketing — Develop and use an agricultural marketing plan. 
  3. Farm Programs and Regulations — Identify government regulations and use appropriate government funded farm programs to support and advance your farm.
  4. Crops and Soil — Practice appropriate crop and soil management techniques that maximize production, efficiency, conservation, and sound environmental management.
  5. Business and Finance — Identify and apply appropriate business techniques and technologies to develop and maintain a farm business management plan for profitable operations.
  6. Farm Production Operations — Complete and implement a farm management plan that addresses the selection, operation, and maintenance of efficient and safe farm operations, labor, and equipment management.
  7. Animals — Manage livestock feeding and care, breeding, and replacement to accomplish appropriate production.
  8. Labor — Analyze labor needs and apply management skills to hire, and maintain an adequate number of safe, skilled, and efficient workers.
  9. Community & Interpersonal Skills — Work, communicate, and function effectively and ethically in farm organizations, local government, and the community.
  10. Family & Personal Well-being — Define and balance family needs and goals with farm goals, operations, and profitability in order to maintain personal and family well-being.
