Medical Assistant Additional Information for Admission Requirements
Application Process
The Medical Assistant program is a One-year Technical Diploma that starts both spring and fall semesters. We also have both day and evening sections with full and part-time schedules available. We accept 35 students in the fall and 25 in the spring semesters. Currently, the waiting list could be approximately 1 semester from the semester for which you apply for the clinical classes.
Applications will be accepted only during the following time periods:
Madison, Fall 2008 —November 19, 2007 – April 1, 2008 ***
Madison, Spring 2009 — April 21, – May 1, 2008 ***
The following materials must be on file at MATC in order to have a complete application.
- Completed Application form, paper or online. Campus and semester must be selected, and must be one for which applications are currently being accepted.
- Check or money order for the one-time application fee of $30.00. Exception: If you have previously paid this fee for an MATC program, you have already fulfilled the fee requirement.
- Official high school or GED/HSED transcripts. *
- Official college transcripts from all colleges previously attended. *
- ACT, SAT, COMPASS, or ASSET Exception: If you have a Bachelor’s Degree, this requirement is waived.
* If high school, GED/HSED and/or college transcripts are on file at MATC, they do not need to be submitted again. You may contact the Enrollment Center @ (608) 246-6210 or (800) 322-6282 ext. 6210 if you would like to verify that your transcripts are on file.
* To obtain your transcripts, contact your High School, GED/HSED Testing Center, and all Post-secondary Institutions you have attended and request an official transcript be sent directly to the school.
*** The Enrollment Center will start taking applications starting September 1 for the following Fall, and January 16 for the following Spring.

3. Residency: Per Wisconsin TCS-10 statue, out of state residents, except for Minnesota, are not permitted to be placed on a waiting list for a program. It is the applicant’s responsibility for proving his/her residency information. Please check with the Enrollment Center for further details (608) 246-6210 or 1-800-322-6282 ext. 6210.
4. Course Requirements (All of the following requirements for admissions must be previously completed or you must be currently enrolled in the courses when the application is submitted.)
Courses
Math:
Math competency demonstrated through satisfactory competency testing scores
OR
two semesters of high school math, with a C or better each semester
OR
one semester of college-level math course with a grade of C or better, whichever is a most recent reflection of your Math skills.
Science:
Two semesters of high school science, with a C or better each semester
OR
one semester of college-level science course with a grade of C or better: Body Structure & Function 31-543-335 or 10-501-153 or higher level course.
Once you are placed on the waiting list
- Pay your $50 waiting list deposit to remain on the list
