Milwaukee School of Engineering
Electrical Engineering Technology Transfer Agreement
MATC and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) have signed an agreement to enable successful graduates of MATC’s two-year Electrical Engineering Technology Program to transfer to MSOE with junior status. Commonly called a “2 + 2” agreement, the plan allows MATC graduates who meet established requirements to transfer seamlessly into MSOE’s bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering technology.
In addition, students coming into the MSOE program from MATC may receive tuition reductions based on academic achievement. For example, an MATC student with a grade point average of 3.50 receives an $8,000 tuition reduction at MSOE and those with a 3.00 grade point average earn a $6,000 tuition reduction.
The MATC Electrical Engineering Technology Program is new and builds on MATC’s established two-year associate Electronics Technology Progam. In addition to the electronics curriculum, the new program requires two “bridge” courses of advanced electronics and two technical calculus courses. Students who have graduated from the MATC Electronics Technology Program may be able to participate in the MSOE transfer program by taking the four advanced courses.
For more information on the MSOE Electrical Engineering Technology program, call (800) 332-6763 or email explore@msoe.edu.

University of Wisconsin–Madison
More students transfer from MATC to UW–Madison each year than from any other institution. Students who hold this goal enroll in the Liberal Arts Transfer Program and work with advisors to select credits to meet the transfer admission requirements as well as requirements of a prospective program. There are three possible pathways to transfer from MATC to UW-Madison: (1) Transfer Contract, (2) Connections Program, and (3) regular transfer admission.
Transfer Contract
Students who enroll at MATC as new freshmen have the opportunity to sign a Transfer Contract with UW-Madison. Qualified students will be guaranteed admission to UW-Madison when they apply for transfer admission if they:
- Submit Declaration of Intent to Participate prior to completing 30 credits at MATC
- Complete 54 credits (including 27 credits in specified areas) in the Liberal Arts Transfer Program within five years
- Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (students with a 2.6-2.9 will receive consideration)
- Have completed the necessary high school units in math (algebra, plane geometry, advanced math) and a single foreign language (either two high school years or two college semesters)
The Declaration form and more details
UW-Madison Connections Program
Connections is a special dual-admission program between MATC (and other 2-year campuses) and UW-Madison. Selected UW–Madison freshman applicants are invited to participate in the Connections Program in lieu of direct freshman admission. Connections participants complete their first 54 credits at MATC and transition to UW-Madison as juniors. For entry into specific UW–Madison majors and programs, participants must meet the same criteria as UW–Madison continuing students.
While attending classes at MATC, Connections students receive a UW-Madison
student ID and have access to resources on both campuses including
academic advising, libraries, cultural and social activities,
recreational facilities and athletic events.
The Connections Program is open to Wisconsin residents only. To be eligible for consideration, students must apply for fall freshman admission to UW-Madison. For more information on Connections, call the Director at (608) 890-1649 or visit http://www.connections.wisc.edu/.
Regular Transfer Admission
All students who complete at least 24 transferable college credits and have the minimum high-school units (algebra, plane geometry, advanced math, and two units of a single foreign language) or equivalent can apply and compete for transfer admission at UW-Madison.
Applicants undergo a comprehensive review process by the Office of Admissions. Factors taken into consideration are academic course preparation, GPA, and high school record.
For details about transfer admission at UW-Madison, visit UW Transfer Admissions on the Web or contact the Office of Admissions at 608-262-3961 or transfer@admissions.wisc.edu.
Engineering Transfer Blueprint Program with UW-Madison
The Engineering Transfer Blueprint provides MATC students with a clear pathway for guaranteed admission to UW-Madison College of Engineering. To qualify, students enroll at MATC as first-year college students and sign a participation form prior to the completion of twenty-four (24) college credits. They must select an intended degree program from the ten participating engineering degree programs. Upon completion of the requirements, students are guaranteed admission into their specified program in the College of Engineering.
