About Online Delivery
The MATC and eTech College of Wisconsin offer learners the opportunity to complete all or part of the Supervisory Management program online. Learners interact with instructors and peers through the online environment while completing activity-based assignments individually and in online groups. The Internet environment allows students to take advantage of the technology’s strengths, rather than simply duplicate a face-to-face traditional classroom.
Supervisory Management/Leadership Development program courses are also available from many of the other WTS Districts from around Wisconsin through the “eTech Consortium.”

Frequently Asked Questions:
What if I have never
taken an online course?
There are several expectations of online learning. Students need to be
self-motivated, independent and have a basic knowledge in computer operations
such as keyboarding, sending and receiving emails and surfing the internet.
For more information about online learning, refer to “Are
you an Online Learner?”
Do I need to sit down
at my computer the same time each day?
Adult learners have a variety of conflicting work and family obligations.
Each student will have a time that works better for him or her each day.
Learners can participate at any time or location that works for them.
You have access to the class seven days a week, 24 hours each day.
Wouldn’t it be
better to have a real time discussion, just like a more traditional face-to-face
classroom?
An advantage of online learning is that students don’t
have to raise their hand or interrupt someone to speak. Comments can be
prepared off-line and then submitted to form a discussion string. Students
then have time to read comments, prepare their response off-line and then
submit them to the discussion board.
What do I do in an
online class?
Online courses are similar to traditional classrooms in many ways. There
is a faculty member that leads the online course and classmates with whom
you interact. During each week you will have reading and written assignments,
activities or projects to complete individually and in groups. You complete
your work at your own schedule and submit materials by the assigned dates.
Discussions are on-going throughout the week.
How much time should
I expect to spend each week on my course?
If you were taking a traditional course you would attend class approximately
three hours per week during a semester with approximately three to six
hours of work outside of class. Online course are completed in eight weeks
and students should expect to spend approximately 15-20 hours each week
on their course. The amount of time will vary depending on the individual
student.
How often should I
expect to log on to my online class?
Most learners will log on to the server a couple of times per day, at
least five days per week. You can decide what fits into your schedule.
In order to gain the most from you class you will need to be an active
participant in class discussions.
How long will I have
to complete my online course?
The Supervisory Management online courses are eight
weeks long. All assignments and discussions are scheduled to be completed
by specific dates to facilitate discussions and the learning process.
What kind of work will
I do?
Online courses are very similar to traditional classes. The faculty member
leads the online courses and you have classmates with whom you interact.
You will read materials, complete assignments, and discuss course topics
with your classmates and the faculty member. You will work with you classmates
to complete group assignments in and outside of class
What if I have questions?
The online environment is very flexible in that you can communicate through
the course software system with the instructor and classmates. Students
are also can communicate through direct email for personal messages.
