Accelerated Fastrack
Programming
The accelerated Fastrack program provides an opportunity for the occupational
experienced student to earn a degree in half the time of traditional degree
programs. Students attend one evening each week for 18 months. The Fastrack
method does not short-change students; it conforms to the highest standards
of adult continuing education. It achieves this reduction of in-class
time by using accelerated teaching methods that separate the required
competencies into material students can learn independently and material
that needs to be covered in class. Accelerated methods do not rely on
lecture, they are interactive and treat learning as a collaborative effort
of equals.
Acceleration
Accelerated programming uses methods of instruction that allows for a
reduction of in-class hours by 50 percent. Students complete the remaining
percent by completing outside class activities such as reading, written
papers, case studies and group projects.
Locations
The Supervisory Management Fastrack program is available at the Downtown
and Fort Atkinson campuses. The program runs year round with new cycles
beginning each fall.
Scheduling
Supervisory Management core courses are completed in 18 months. Participants
enter the program with a group of students (cycle) who proceed through
all the courses together. Three credit courses run for six week each,
two credit course for 4 weeks. Students receive a schedule of their cycle
for the entire 18 months that clearly identifies course start and ending
dates and intermittent break period.
Requirements for Admission
The requirements for admission to the Supervisory Management/Leadership Development Accelerated “Fastrack” Delivery are the same as all MATC programs. Unlike those programs we take care of all the paperwork on one evening. Students are required to attend one of the Information Sessions that are held at various times throughout the summer. Completion of the admission process will be completed at the required orientation session held prior to the beginning of the new class cycle each August.
Registration and Fees
Initial registration is done at the mandatory orientation session. There
after students will register at the beginning of each semester.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What does the schedule
look like?
Students entering the program will receive a complete course schedule for the entire 18 month cycle. See a sample cycle schedule. It clearly identifies course starting/ending dates and intermittent break periods. You will enter the Fastrack program cycle with a group of students who will proceed through all the courses together. For a copy of the latest schedule please contact the Supervisory Management Program Office at 608.258.2372 or Toll Free at 1.800.332.6282 x 2372.
How long will it take
to earn my degree?
That depends on the number of credits a student brings to the program
and if they want to attend one or two nights a week. The range is 18-30
months to earn an associate degree.
How much time should
I expect to spend on each week on my course?
Students taking a traditional course would attend class three hours per
week, for 18 weeks, with approximately three to six hours of work outside
of class each week. Fastrack courses are completed in 6 weeks with students
spending approximately 15-20 hours on outside work each week.
How does this degree
work for students interested in completing a 4-year baccalaureate degree?
MATC has developed formal agreements with a number of four-year colleges
and universities, which enable you to transfer the credits earned in an
Associate Degree program to a specific institution. This program allows
you to continue your studies towards completion of a bachelor’s
degree at a college or university following graduation from MATC.
How do I register?
What's my next step?
Students interested in joining the next Fastrack cycle should contact
the program office. Their names will be added to student contact list
and will receive a letter inviting them to attend one of the three information
sessions held during the summer, prior to the beginning of each cycle.
Attendance at one of the information sessions is require din order to
