This Website is an effort to provide an online resource of Multicultural and International education organizations, initiatives and programs. Its emphasis is on higher education resources and programs, but also includes: community based organizations; local, regional, and national contact information; and links to dozens of other useful sites.

This site is developed by the Student Life Office of Madison Area Technical College, and made possible in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Technical College System, Committee on International Education.

 

Online International Education Resources

Academy for International Education
AIB is a private, non-profit, and independent institution for higher education and professional training, which was founded in 1993 in Bonn, Germany. The main emphasis of AIB is the curricular design and implementation of innovative study and training programs. AIB specializes in the development of individual and group-specific programs, which provide new professional skills, international experience, and cross-cultural awareness. American Overseas Research Centers This program provides grants to eligible consortia of higher education institutions to establish or operate overseas research centers that promote postgraduate research, exchanges, and area studies.

Australian International Education Foundation
The Foundation provides the national structure and focus for a purposeful Australian effort to deal with the practical, competitive realities of international education and training.

Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER)
A well maintained site specializing in information relevant to business education, but also providing link access to news, journals and other information.

The Digital Education Network Study Abroad Index
DEN is a large index of international education resources available online.

Geographic Index of College and University Homepages
A listing with contact information for over 3000 colleges in over 80 countries.

Institute of International Education
IIE administers 240 programs through which more than 11,000 men and women from 170 nations benefit annually. IIE forges partnerships between the public and private sectors to design and implement international programs and to provide technical assistance in all countries and all fields. In addition, IIE conducts statistical and policy research and provides information on international study to several hundred thousand students and prospective students, educators, government officials, and business leaders worldwide by means of publications, databases, conferences, information centers, and advising services.

International Education Exchange Program
This program provides curricula and teacher training programs in civics education and economic education, developed in the United States, for educators in eligible countries overseas.

International Education Resource Center
The IERC is an overseas study abroad center serving U.S. colleges and universities sponsoring studying abroad programs in the Dominican Republic.

The International Education Site
A FREE guide to international education information and opportunities for students worldwide who are considering studying abroad. Including study abroad guidance, college search facilities and articles from the leading journals on international education.

Language Resource Centers
This program provides grants for the establishment, strengthening, and operating of a small number of centers that serve as resources for improving the nation's capacity for teaching and learning foreign languages.

The MIC is primarily aimed at preparing and recruiting minority and at-risk pre-collegiate students. It encourages increased communication between parents and teachers, and includes advice, strategies, and program information.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Upward Bound Program
Upward bound is a federally funded program designed to help at-risk pre-collegiate students. Qualifying students must be potential first-generation college students, and from low income backgrounds.

The Institute on Race and Ethnicity is a research foundation supporting scholarly research and investigation. A highlight of this web site is a Course Syllabi Resource Bank available to instructors seeking ways to diversify their lesson plans.

Indian Country Wisconsin
As legally mandated in Wisconsin Educational Act 31, Wisconsin teachers of K-12 courses must provide instruction in the culture, history sovereignty, and treaty rights of Wisconsin Indian tribes. This site is useful in providing such information. An educational site with information on Wisconsin Indian culture, history, and politics. Geared toward K-12 classrooms, it also includes good classroom activities, photo galleries, and historical informatio.
