San Josa, Costa Rica
Costa Rica is an increasingly popular site for study abroad. A democratic, politically stable nation, it has been called the safest country to visit in Latin America. It is also one of the most interesting to explore, with tropical rain forests, beautiful beaches, active volcanoes, and exotic wildlife. San Jose, the capital, is a friendly, cosmopolitan city of nearly 1,000,000. It is home to the University of Costa Rica and a variety of language institutes. One of these, the Forester Instituto Internacional, is host institution for this program, which is offered to ICISP through the college of DuPage.
Program

Housing
Housing is in the homes of carefully selected families, usually with two students assigned per family. Breakfast and supper are provided by the host family; students are on their own for lunch.tonio National Park, and various museums.
Costs
studies/ study abroad. Many types of financial aid may be used for a term abroad, and, in addition, scholarships may be available. [Note Costs for academic year 2003 costs will be approximately $2,499 plus tuition.
Program Dates
Program dates for the five-week session are approximately the fourth week in June through July. (For specific dates consult the campus office of international studies/ study abroad) Participants must attend a Saturday orientation class at the College of DuPage approximately 10 days prior to departure.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements are a minimum of 12 credit hours or more of college level work and a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Qualified high school seniors 18 and over that will graduate before the beginning of the program may be accepted.
Deadline
Deadline for application is March 1st. Early application is advisable, as space is limited. Application materials may be obtained in the campus office of international studies/ study abroad.
Courses
Courses required for all students include Culture and Civilization of Costa Rica and a Spanish course at the appropriate level, as determined through an interview and placement test.
