(VDV) Installer/Technician
The VDV Installer/Technician plans and initiates projects, installs underground voice or data circuit feeders to entrance of facilities. Provides or connects to the grounding electrode system. Installs, terminates and tests wires and cables both copper and fiber-optic. Installs, tests, certifies and troubleshoots local area network cabling systems. Lays out, installs and verifies operation of security and access systems. Installs communications and sound distribution systems, including electronic devices such as gateways, hubs, NIC cards, telephone switches, etc. Prefabricates systems, such as telecommunications racks and installation. Works on other sub-systems such as communications, life safety, energy management and customer service.
