Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning ABC
Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) apprentices learn how to install, maintain, repair and overhaul industrial, commercial and residential refrigeration and air conditioning systems and their component parts. Topics covered during the HVAC ABC Apprenticeship Program include but are not limited to: trade math; tools of the trade; copper and plastic piping; soldering and brazing; ferrous metal piping; basic electricity/alternating current/basic electronics; cooling and heating principles; blueprint reading; air properties and distribution; chimney, vents and flues; preventive
and mechanical maintenance; electrical furnaces; HVAC controls; troubleshooting HVAC equipment; metering devices; compressors; heat pumps; leak detection, evacuation, recover and charging; refrigerant transition and recovery program; water and air balance; steam systems; energy conservation and equipment; energy management systems; water treatment; system start-up and shut-down; indoor air quality; and customer relations.
