Special Programs & Services
The division developed programs to address the unique needs of various targeted populations who might not otherwise be able to access instructional services.
Workplace Education Programs
Workplace education programs are developed through a three-way partnership among businesses, labor and education. Numerous companies throughout the district provide basic education instruction utilizing job-specific curriculum and materials.
Institutionalized Adult Program
Through collaborative efforts with county jail and state correctional administrative staff, the program for institutionalized adults provides on-site basic education and remedial instruction throughout the MATC District. Individualized, small group, and/or computer-assisted instruction classes are provided through a learning center. When possible, information is provided to assist participants in transitioning to community educational programs.
Compulsory Education Program
A student between the ages of 16 and 18 and who meets the statutory definition of being at-risk of not graduating from his/her high school may attend MATC under a contractual agreement in lieu of high school to obtain a High School Equivalency Diploma. Participation requires that the student, a parent, a representative from the local high school and MATC enter into a written agreement that defines the services that will be provided to the student.
