College Preparedness and Academic Advancement Center (CPAAC)

The College Preparedness and Academic Advancement Center (CPAAC) is dedicated to making quality basic education accessible. The Center addresses the unique needs of individuals and families within our district so that they may acquire the skills and knowledge needed to participate fully in all aspects of modern society.

Academic instruction and special services are provided through Basic Education, Special Programs/Services, and Supplemental Instruction in the Division. Instructional learning centers and/or classrooms are located at all MATC campuses—Downtown, Truax, Commercial Avenue, Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown—and numerous outreach sites throughout the District.

Our basic education and instructional support programs are offered tuition-free. Some classes and programs require a nominal material fee and/or a textbook may be required. To register, students must contact College Preparedness and Academic Advancement Center (CPAAC) staff at the appropriate campus. (Online self-scheduling or phone-in registration is not currently available.)

An assessment of current skills is required to assist CPAAC staff in better meeting students academic needs. Assessment is offered in such basic education areas as vocabulary, reading comprehension, math computation and reasoning skills, spelling, English grammar and English as a second language.
