College Preparedness and Academic Advancement Center (CPAAC)
The College Preparedness and Academic Advancement Center (CPAAC) is dedicated to providing quality education to a diverse population and fostering an all-inclusive environment that promotes access to educational opportunities. The
Center addresses the unique needs of individuals and families within our District so that they may acquire the skills and knowledge needed to accomplish their personal goals, complete their high school education, prepare for college or boost their earning power thus supporting their full participation in the community.
Academic instruction and special services are provided in the form of Basic Skills Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), Special Programs/Services, and Supplemental Instruction. Instructional settings can include learning centers, computer labs and structured classrooms which are located at all MATC campuses – Downtown, Truax, Commercial Avenue, South Madison, Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown – and also numerous outreach and workplace sites throughout the District.
Our basic skills education and instructional support programs are offered tuition-free. Some classes and programs may require a nominal materials fee and/or a textbook. Financial assistance is available for those in need of support. For information on registration, students may contact CPAAC at the appropriate campus (see Contact Us).
An assessment of the individual’s current skills is required to assist CPAAC staff in determining proper placement to help ensure the students’ academic needs are met. Assessment is offered in areas such as vocabulary, reading comprehension, math computation and reasoning skills, spelling, and English grammar.
