Devi Bhargava Memorial Fund
The Devi Bhargava Memorial fund was established at MATC through the MATC Foundation. The fund endows two awards: 1. An opportunity grant in the amount of $500.00 for a graduating student with a disability, and 2. A recognition to a staff member who demonstrates special understanding and support for students with disabilities. Each year we solicit the help of MATC faculty and staff in nominating a student with a disability who either graduated in December or is graduating in the spring who you think has:
a. Overcome substantial barriers during his/her academic career
b. Has worked at being a successful self-advocate
c. Has achieved academic success
d. Has contributed to an understanding of the issues surrounding disabilities either on a one-on-one basis or with a larger audience. When nominating someone, we would like you to consider the above factors, as well as giving us one or two examples of why you think the student you are nominating best exemplifies the outlined characteristics.
Names of nominees can be sent to: mfayram@matcmadison.edu. The deadline for submission of names is March 11.
Thank you for your help. -- The Devi Bhargava Awards Committee
