All classes will meet at Truax in 220C unless otherwise stated. Open lab (an opportunity to ask Irene questions) sessions do not require registration. Contact Irene Rauwald, 243-4380, for personal "Guide at Your Side" sessions or if you have questions. Please register at least five working days before the class. You will be notified if class is canceled due to low enrollment.

Register for a collaborative training session with hands on activities at http://matcmadison.edu/hr/staffdev
- Click on "Registration."
- On the "Welcome" page, complete the Sign in process using your One Card number.
- Click on "Register" for a Course or Session."
- On the next page Select "Core Abilities" from the drop-down menu as the type of workshop for which you are registering.
- Scroll down and check the box for the course you wish to take.
- Click the "Register" button.

You will be sent an e-mail confirmation of your registration. Please contact Donna Renteria with on-line registration questions - drenteria@matcmadison.edu, phone: 608-246-6904.

Earn 2 hours towards your 5-year renewal for Teaching Certification for the Workshop or Blackboard. Part-time instructors will be paid for attendance at the workshop.

MATC Foundation Releases Fall 2005 Scholarship Application
The deadline for the MATC Foundation Fall 2005 Scholarship applications is April 15, 2005. Please strongly encourage students to apply. Scholarships recipients are evaluated on three factors: merit (as measured by GPA), financial need and their answers to questions on the scholarship application package. The application can be found on the MATC website in the Financial Aid section.

Combined Charitable Campaign Committee Needs Members!
This committee is one of the MATC's work teams. The Combined Charitable Campaign raises funds from MATC faculty and staff to support nonprofit organizations in our community. If you join this committee, you may find yourself doing one or more of the following tasks: drafting communication pieces to faculty and staff, organizing a mailing, acting as a liaison to the United Way, reserving rooms for the kick-off and collecting pledge forms.

If you are interested in joining this work team, please RSVP to sfowles@matcmadison.edu to attend a lunch meeting from 12:00 p.m. to
1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3rd, in Room 141-C.

MATC Foundation Requests Innovation Grant Proposals from Faculty, Staff and Students
The MATC Foundation Innovation Grants program was created to provide funding to students, faculty and staff for the development and implementation of high quality, innovative projects that support learning college principles and/or the MATC mission. Innovation Grants are available to finance projects not normally funded by the college budget or other sources. Examples of projects not eligible for Innovation Grants funding include curriculum development (faculty/staff) or direct financial aid to individuals (students).

Application Amounts and Deadlines
Most grants range between $1,000 and $3,000. Unless otherwise stated in the proposal and agreed to by the Foundation, projects must be completed within 18 months of the award date. The Foundation reserves the right to partially fund grant requests. Unspent funding returns to the Foundation.

The next application deadline is Friday, March 4, 2005, 4:30 p.m. Completed applications must be returned to the MATC Foundation, Room 227 Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson St, Madison WI 53704 or faxed to (608) 246-6318. Health Care Careers Featured on February 15 Career Snapshot Event
Do you know someone who is interested in making a difference in peoples' lives through a career in health care? Encourage them to attend the next Career Snapshot highlighting careers as a:

- Medical Assistant
- Clinical Lab Technician
- Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Respiratory Care Technician

The event will be held on Tuesday, February 15 in the Mitby Theater of the Truax Campus. The event is held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Attendees will learn about career options, salary and advancement opportunities. They will be able to participate in hands-on demonstrations and talk to MATC instructors and alumni working in the field. The event is free of charge and open to members of the community. Shelters have indicated a REAL NEED for gently used & clean Winter Accessories/Clothing and Blankets.

Clear out your closets for spring! Get rid of all those old hats, mittens, scarves, jackets and other winter accessories that were replaced during the holiday sales for children or adults.

Donations can be dropped off in the green donation barrels at Downtown & Truax Student Life Office Monday, January 24 - February 4.

Optical Dispensary
The optical dispensary in room 314 will be opening for services on Friday, January 21. Our hours will be Tuesdays 12:30 - 2:20 p.m. and Fridays 11:30 - 3:20 p.m.

Students and staff of MATC are invited to come and look at the large selection of dress and safety glasses available. We have the latest in eyewear fashion and lens materials all at a significant cost savings. When ordering glasses, you must bring with you a copy of your current prescription (not more than 2 years old). We also provide adjustments and minor eyeglass repairs at no cost.

To assure that a student technician is available when you come in we strongly recommend calling 246-6272 for an appointment.

The Optometric Technician Program offers a free vision screening for students, staff, family and friends. Some of the tests included are: glaucoma screening, visual acuity measurement, color and depth perception test and blood pressure screening. The optometric technician student will review the screening results and provide the patient with eye care recommendations. This screening is to determine whether further eye care is necessary. You will not receive a current eye glass or contact lens prescription. This is a free service, but an appointment is necessary. Call today @ 246-6557 or 246-6272; or stop in room 314.
