General Information

Notice from City of Madison Department of Transportation / Parking
State Street Capitol Parking Ramp Fee Changes

Attention Faculty and Staff Who Work or Teach at the MATC Downtown Education Center!
Students and staff who use the State Street Capitol Ramp across from the MATC Downtown campus should be advised that the City of Madison has changed its policy regarding the fee it charges at that ramp when large events are planned in the downtown area.

All drivers who enter the ramp during "event" nights will be charged a $3 fee upon entering, with no exceptions. For several years, the city allowed people attending MATC to take an entrance ticket instead and pay the standard rate when they leave. This practice has been discontinued due to the difficultly of allowing different rates for people who enter the ramp at the same time. Now, all drivers will be charged a $3 fee.

Other parking options are available for students in the downtown area. The Capitol Square North Ramp at 218 E. Mifflin St., located just three blocks from the Downtown MATC campus, charges a night and weekend rate of only $1.

All questions about this change should be directed to the City of Madison Department of Transportation - Parking Utility web site at: http://www.ci.madison.wi.us/parking/parking.html. The web site also provides a central area parking map that shows the location of both ramps and other available parking locations in the downtown area.
