Thanks and Congratulations!
The Career Skills Expo was held at the Alliant Center last week.  Hats off and deepest thanks and appreciation go to Paul Morschauser who spent this year as State Director of the Post-Secondary SkillsUSA efforts.  Paul put in countless hours and went way above and beyond the call to see that this event was successful.  And it was!  MATC students finished 1st and 3rd in the Diesel competition, 1st in Welding, 1st and 3rd in Prepared Speech, 1st in Job Interview, 1st in Extemporaneous Speech, and 2nd and 3rd in Machine Tool.  Congratulations to all participants and their supporting faculty members.  In addition to the 50+ competitions which took place at the Alliant Center, our own Truax facilities were the host for 4 separate competitions, namely Auto Collision and Repair, Welding, Printing and Machine Tool.  Each of these events took a great deal of time and coordination from our faculty.  So thank you and hats off to all T & I faculty and staff involved in these events:  Rod Kohlhepp, Harley Arzt and Tim Hoege in Auto Collision;  Frank Juckem in Welding;  Bob Brown, JR Colvin, Lonnie Lingard, Steve Mishler, Ron Morello and Harley Vangen in Machine Tool; Scott Baxter, Janneke Baske and David Stuber in Printing.  Special deep bows to the Printing faculty because they pulled together competitions for 16 students in the last few days preceeding the event while also staffing and working the Printing Industry booths at the Alliant Center (just a little overtime involved here!).  Outstanding efforts!  Many other folks need to be thanked and congratulated for their efforts at the Alliant Center and here:  Patrick Molzahn for the Cabinetmaking competition; Theresa Kozel, Scott Beard and John Kinsler from Portage for the Plastics Industry booths and displays;  Kent Streubing for Machine Tool repairs to machines used in competition; John Fahey and Marilyn Kressin for Barber/Cos and Nails;  Aaron Dix, Aaron Halverson and Tom Wozniak for the Diesel competition;  and I truly hope I have not overlooked anyone!  As you can see, it takes an army of dedicated folks to pull these events off and these T & I folks are the generals and the worker bees who make that happen.  You make us all very proud!
