General Information  

The MATC Foundation will celebrate student success at its annual Scholarship Awards Breakfast on Thursday, April 29th, from 7:45-9:00am in the Redsten Gymnasium. Participants include scholarship recipients, scholarship donors, and donors to the Foundation's Faculty Staff Giving Campaign. During the 2003-2004 school year, over 200 students received scholarships from the MATC Foundation!

The final dialogue session with Becky Baumbach, Vice President of Strategic Effectiveness will be held on April 28 from 1:30-2:30pm at the Fort Atkinson Campus. This session will provide an opportunity for Becky to answer any questions staff may have or discuss topics related to unit planning, LSQIP, AQIP, core abilities, assessment of student learning outcomes, enrollment management, research, marketing and public relations, college strategic planning, or any continuous improvement effort at the college.  There is no formal presentation, just time to communicate about things on your mind concerning the college's direction and improvement efforts.  We hope to see you!

CRIME AND PUNISHMENT:  12:30-1:20, Monday, April 26, Room 275
State Representative Mark Pocan is a member of legislative committees that focus on corrections, the courts, and criminal justice.  He will address the following topics:
1. Characteristics of the adult prison population in Wisconsin.
2. Why have we seen a boom in the prison population, its impact on the state and alternatives for dealing with the problem. 
3. Whether increasing punishment is reducing crime
4. The Supermax  prison

"You Go Girl" and Way to Go Guy" Scholarships Update:  Seventy-five MATC women have pledged monies to create 6 "You Go Girl" scholarships for single moms. We need 9 more women participants to reach a total of 7 scholarships. Twenty-eight MATC men and women have pledged monies to create 2 "Way To Go Guy" scholarships for single dads. We need 8 more men or women participants to reach a total of 3 scholarships. If you are interested, please contact Jill Mason at jlmason@matcmadison.edu or call her at 246-6721.

Get Ready for the Big Event--Tech Academy 2004
Welcome to Paradise, where Technology Works will run May 18-May 20.  Save room on your calendars for this great event.  Registration will be online and available next week at http://matcmadison.edu/techacademy.  Thanks to all the generous people who volunteered to present this year. Watch your email and mailboxes for all the details.  We will be having a pig roast for the closing session on Thurs. May 20 at 12:15.

MATC Community Show Choir Presents: Super Show 2004  "A Rock & Roll Spectacular" on Sunday, May 2 at 2:00pm and Friday, May 7 at 7:30pm in the Mitby Theatre, Truax Campus, featuring selections from rock and roll including "Old Time Rock and Roll", "That Lonesome Road", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "Unchained Melody", YMCA", "Under the Boardwalk", "Kokomo", "Hot, Hot, Hot" and many more.  Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults, $4 for children under 12, students and seniors, and are available at the Mitby Theater Box Office or by calling (608) 243-4000.
NOTE:  Sunday's show will include the MATC Swing Choir and The Combined College Choirs of MATC and the University of Wisconsin Center-Rock County. Friday's show includes the Community Show choir and several other acts.

The Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) Madison, WI Chapter is offering a scholarship opportunity for students studying in the construction field. The student must have completed the second semester status and will be starting third semester status in the fall. The scholarships will be $1,000 each for tuition and books. If you know of any students in any of our construction programs be sure to tell them to stop at the Student Enrollment Center and pick up an application. Applications must be mailed directly to the CFMA Scholarship Committee by  May 21.
