All classes now have required registration at http://matcmadison.edu/hr/techtraining/spring2004reg.htm  or email Irene Rauwald at irauwald@matcmadison.edu.  Space is limited and a minimum of 5 is required to run the class, so register early.  All classes will meet at Truax in 220C unless otherwise stated.  Drop-in sessions do not require registration.

Health Care & Protective Service Careers Featured!
Do you know someone who is interested in health care and protective service careers?   Encourage them to attend the next Career Snapshot seminar showcasing careers in:

  • The event will be held on Tuesday, February 17 in the Truax Campus Mitby Theater. Attendees will learn about career options, salary and advancement opportunities.  They will be able to participate in hands-on demonstrations and talk to MATC alumni working in the field.  The event is free of charge and open to members of the community.  Those interested can register online at _www.matcmadison.edu or by calling 608/246-6239.

    The Barber/Cosmetology Salon Truax (located in the Mitby Threatre dressing rooms) is offering shampoo and hair cuts for $5.00 on February 2, 3, 9-13 and 16-20 between the hours of 12:30-4:15pm.
    Barber/Cosmetology Salon Downtown, room D029 is open to the public Monday &endash; Friday between 12:30-4:15pm. Call (608) 258-2404 for more information.

    Vision Screening Clinic in room 314 of the Truax campus is now open.  The screening is performed by optometric technician students directly supervised by program instructors.  The screenings are free-of-charge and are available to anyone in the greater Madison area.  Some of the tests performed within the 1-hour screening are:

    • Visual acuity
    • Color vision, depth perception, pupil reflex testing
    • Corneal curvature & auto refraction
    • Eye pressure
    • Blood pressure
    • Visual field testing (available in mid February)

    The vision screening is not a complete eye examination, at the conclusion of the screening it will be determined if the individual requires further eye care from a vision specialist.
    Vision screenings are available by appointment only and on the following days:
    Wednesdays:  12:30pm to 3:30pm
    Thursdays:  12:30pm to 1:30pm

    The Optical Dispensary, located in Room 314 of the Truax campus, is operated by optometric technician students under direct instructor supervision and serves MATC students, staff, faculty, alumni members and retired faculty/staff.

    Free-of-charge services include:
    eyewear adjustments
    minor eyewear repair - nose pads, screws, etc.

    Eyeglasses (dress, safety, small readers and sun wear) may be purchased from the optical dispensary.  An appointment is strongly recommended when selecting and ordering eyewear.
    Hours of Operation:
    Tuesdays:  12:30pm to 2:20pm (may be closed selected Tuesdays due to lab exams) and Fridays:  11:30am to 3:20pm
