MATC Presents Outstanding
Employee and Team of the Year Awards
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) kicked off its new school year with
a positive start by honoring six Outstanding Employees of the Year. The
outstanding employees for the 2002-2003 school year are Edward Clarke,
vice president for Strategic Innovations; Ellen Hustad, administrative
assistant, President's Office and MATC District Board; Merlin Gerber,
machine tool instructor; Jim Grenzow, architectural drafting instructor;
Cindy Spankowski, supervisory management instructor and Catherine
Wilson, occupational therapy instructor.

MATC Receives Federal
Grant for Renewable Energy Consortium
The National Science
Foundation has awarded Madison Area Technical College (MATC) a grant for
$420,280 for support of a project to create the Consortium for Education
in Renewable Energy Technologies. The goals of the consortium are to provide
technical training and education in renewable energy to students and the
workforce and to train teachers on both the college and high school level
to provide education in this area. Through a partnership with the Wisconsin
Educational Communications Board, the consortium also will provide a public
forum for discussion of renewable energy technologies.

To Hold Series of Events and Activities to Remember September 11
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will hold a series of events and
activities as part of its "September 11th Remembered: A Day of Reflection,
A Future of Civic Involvement" plans. Most activities will be held
in both the Truax Student Lounge and Downtown Education Center 2nd Floor
Atrium.See
