MATC GLOBAL HORIZONS SERIES PRESENTS GERMANY: HISTORY, ECONOMICS AND EXCHANGE
In a continuing effort to provide learning experiences that provide a global view of today's world to its students, Madison Area Technical College (MATC) is presenting a Global Horizons Series on Germany, focusing specifically on its history, economics, and exchange opportunities. The series will include lectures and panel discussion and will be held from October 6-13.

Twenty-three visitors from Hesse, Germany will be in Wisconsin from October 6 through the 15th and in Madison for a portion of that time. Exchange visitors include the head of the education authority in Frankfurt; chairman of the joint venture of technical colleges in Hessen; along with college administrators and teachers. Multiple technical colleges from the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) are hosting the group throughout the week and MATC is the welcoming host for the delegation. The delegation will travel throughout the state, studying and observing at various technical colleges.

All of the workshops and discussion are free to the public and are held either at the MATC Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street or the MATC Downtown Education Center, 211 North Carroll Street. Events include:

Friday, October 6; 10:30 Ð 11:30 am and 1:30 Ð 2:30 pm
Lecture/Slide Presentation: Lessons from History: To the Nazi Camp and Beyond with Robert Frisch, Holocaust survivor and professor of pediatrics at the University of Minnesota

The Global Horizons Lecture Series is dedicated to putting individual students, employees, and community members in contact with global figures who are making a difference in the world through their commitment, involvement, and local action. The goal of the series is to provide new levels of global awareness and new perspectives on issues of diversity and multiculturalism. By placing a human face on the actors of human history, the college hopes these face-to-face interchanges will inspire new levels of understanding and involvement.

The MATC Global Horizons Lecture Series is a joint effort of the MATC Student Life Office, Staff Development, and MATC Foundation, the Multicultural Initiative Fund, and sponsorships from the greater Madison community.

MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College System's 16 colleges. It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC provides training in more than 100 career programs. It awards associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates, and offers non-degree courses. The college serves all or parts of 12 counties located in southcentral Wisconsin and offers instruction through five campuses and various other locations throughout the district.
