MATC
RECEIVES GRANT TO ASSIST WISCONSIN BUSINESSES WITH GOVERNMENT CONTRACTING
College program receives highest rating
This week, the United States Department of Defense awarded Madison Area
Technical College (MATC) a grant for $210,000 to provide Wisconsin businesses
with technical and marketing assistance in government contracting. The
grant issued to MATC will continue the efforts of the collegeÕs Business
Procurement Assistance Center (BPAC).
Based
on Defense Contract Management Agency review, BPAC was awarded the highest
quality rating for a procurement assistance center. The Department of
Defense recognized BPAC's performance, customer focus and outreach efforts.
Since 1989, BPAC has assisted Wisconsin businesses to win over $520 million
in government contracts, resulting in the creation and/or retention of
over 9,000 jobs.
"Wisconsin
businesses competing for federal government contracts represents an important
economic initiative for the State of Wisconsin," stated MATC President
Beverly S. Simone. "MATC is proud of the work done by the Business
Procurement Assistance Center and this recognition of the excellent service
it provides." BPAC offers individual business assistance and conducts
a variety of training events throughout the state of Wisconsin. The center
also publishes a quarterly newsletter, which highlights current government
contracting initiatives and policies that impact Wisconsin businesses.
The CenterÕs services are provided free of charge. Businesses may learn
more about BPACÕs services or request a newsletter, by calling (608) 258-2330
or email for more information.
"It
is an honor to be nationally recognized as a leader in government contract
assistance," states BPAC Director Denise Kornetzke. "We look
forward to continuing to provide high quality services to businesses in
Wisconsin."
MATC
is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College SystemÕs 16 colleges.
It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and
science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities,
as well as customized employee training. The college serves all or parts
of 12 counties located in southcentral Wisconsin and offers instruction
through five campuses and various other locations throughout the district.
