| MATC and UW-Madison Transfer Contract | |
|
MATC President Bettsey Barhorst and UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley sign a transfer contact that ensures qualified students who begin their postsecondary education as freshmen at MATC will be guaranteed admission as transfer students to UW-Madison. During the past decade, about 10 percent of all UW-Madison transfer students came from MATC, making it the single largest source of student transfers to the university. Marjorie Cook, a 2000 graduate of MATC and a resident of Verona, along with Reggie Williams (left), a Madison resident and current MATC student who hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in education, spoke at the press conference in favor of the transfer contract. Cook has earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees since transferring to the UW-Madison and currently is a doctoral student at the university. She credits her success at MATC with allowing her to transfer to the UW-Madison and break the cycle of poverty in her family.
