Phi Theta Kappa
Fall Induction Ceremony Held At Madison Area Technical College
Forty-two students from all
five campuses were inducted into Madison Area Technical College's chapter
of Phi Theta Kappa during the college's 2002-2003 fall induction ceremony
on October 7, 2002.
Phi Theta Kappa, with more than 1,100 chapters worldwide, is an international
honor society that has been recognizing academic achievement in two-year
colleges since 1918. The society is dedicated to advancing four hallmarks:
scholarship, service, fellowship and leadership. To be eligible for membership,
students need a minimum of 12 associate degree credits and a cumulative
grade point average of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.
Beta Beta Psi began in the fall semester of 1995 and quickly became one
of the most active chapters in the state. The chapter has received 5-star
status (the highest ranking) for implementing programs of service, scholarship,
fellowship and leadership in the community. With this fall's induction,
Beta Beta Psi will have recognized the academic achievement of over 500
MATC students.
MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College System's
16 colleges. It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal
arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and
activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC provides training
in more than 100 career programs. It awards associate degrees, vocational
diplomas and certificates, and offers non-degree courses. The college
serves all or parts of 12 counties located in south central Wisconsin
and offers instruction through five campuses and various other locations
throughout the district.
