MATC Presents
Family and Career Nights for African Americans, Asians and Latinos
Madison Area Technical College
(MATC) is hosting three ethnic family and career community events which
include:
Family Fun and Career Night for Latinos, cosponsored by Centro
Hispano, on Thursday, November 1, 2001 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the MATC Downtown
Education Center, 211 N. Carroll Street, Madison.
African American Family and Career Empowerment Night, cosponsored
by the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, on Friday, November 2, 2001
from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Boys and Girls Club, 2001 Taft Street, Madison.
Asian Family Career Explorations, cosponsored by the United Refugee
Service, on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the MATC Truax
Campus, 3550 Anderson St., Madison.
Participants will meet MATC staff and students and learn about MATC programs
such as biotechnology, business, computers, culinary, dental hygiene,
nursing, optometric technician, tourism and travel, and public safety.
Staff members will be available to answer questions about services including
financial aid, enrollment and employment at MATC. Foods and refreshments
will be served. Live entertainment will be provided at each event.
The program will include remarks from MATC President Beverly Simone. "This
event is a part of a series of career exploration events for various ethnic
communities within our college district," states Beverly Simone,
president. "We hope these events help us in attracting and serving
diverse students at MATC."
