MATC Honors 120 at High School Equivalency
Ceremony
Every graduation can be emotional. But emotions often run especially high
for those receiving their diplomas at Madison Area Technical College (MATC)s
high school equivalency ceremony. This ceremony marks a great accomplishment

Every graduation can be emotional. But emotions often run especially high
for those receiving their diplomas at Madison Area Technical College (MATC)'s
high school equivalency ceremony. This ceremony marks a great accomplishment
for the many people, who for a variety of reasons, havent followed
the traditional educational process. On May 30, Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) honors students who have completed requirements for a high
school option, including the High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), the
General Educational Development (GED) certificate and the External Diploma
Program (EDP). The cap and gown ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM in the
Mitby Theater on the MATC-Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street. A reception
in the cafeteria will follow the ceremony.

Stephen Covey to Present Leadership Seminar
Hes known around the world for his visionary approach to leadership
and business management. His books, videos and audiotapes have inspired
thousands. Stephen Covey, most noted for his book 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People, will address Madison audiences via satellite on Wednesday, June
6th from 9:45 am to 4:00 pm at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant
Energy Center Way. Hosted by Madison Area Technical College (MATC), Covey
will speak on Leadership is a Choice: The Four Roles of a Leader.

MATC Recognizes 1,757 Graduates at Spring
2001 Commencement
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will recognize1757 graduates at
its spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 19th at 10 am in the
Exhibition Hall of the Alliant Energy Center. The ceremonies also will
acknowledge the Distinguished Teacher Awards, the Distinguished Service
Citation, and the State Ambassador Award. Student Gayle Reierson will
deliver the commencement address.

MATC Spring Graduation Features Many Success Stories
On Saturday, May 19th, success stories will fill the Exhibition Hall of
the Alliant Energy Center during Madison Area Technical Colleges
(MATC)s spring commencement ceremony. Thousands will gather to celebrate
the achievements of the 1757 students scheduled for graduation. Classmates
span the generations -- from Generations X and Y up to a 79-year old Liberal
Studies graduate. The graduates fields of study range from accounting
to welding and their backgrounds and future plans are just as varied.

Sixth MATC Redsten Fundraiser Offers 18 Holes of Golf...
Last year, Margaret Wald made local and national news by earning a college
degree at the age of 77 from Madison Area Technical College (MATC). This
year, she has not forgotten her alma mater. Wald, who graduated with honors
from MATC last May with an associate degree in liberal studies, is donating
a unique raffle prize to MATCs Sixth Annual Doug Redsten Golf Classic,
to be held Monday, May 21 at the Cherokee Country Club in Madison.

MATC Student Named Winner of Exchange Program
to Germany
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) is proud to announce that Danielle
Spangler, a student in the colleges Business Mid-Management Program,
has been selected as the winner of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange
for Young Professionals. This exchange program funds airfare, lodging,
and tuition for a full year exchange program to Germany for selected students
and young professionals. Spangler is a 1996 graduate of Poynette High
School. see

MATC Performing
Arts Presents Summer Drama Academy for Children
Every parent thinks their child is a star and this summer, they can provide
their child with the training to become one. MATC Performing Arts is presenting
a summer drama academy for children in grades three through seven. The
two workshops, Theatre for Young Performers and Creative Dramatics for
Young Performers, will be taught by experienced theater instructors and
held on the MATC-Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street. see
