FROM:  BETTSEY BARHORST, MATC PRESIDENT
RE:  STUDENT ONLINE REGISTRATION STARTS NOVEMBER 27
DATE: NOVEMBER 14, 2006

Earlier this semester we launched the student version of Inside MATC, which provided students the ability to make tuition payments online, as well as to check grades and grade history, print class schedules and add or drop classes via the web. Now we are adding the new and essential service of online registration to Inside MATC so students can register for their upcoming spring semester classes on the web.

As the result of a pilot conducted with a small group of students this semester, starting November 27 all MATC program students will be able to register for classes online through Inside MATC. And, as of December 12, all current or former students also will be able to register online. As you know, our students have been eager for web services and developing these services has been a top goal of the college. We are excited about our launch of Inside MATC and the ability for our students to register online.

To be able to register online, students first must activate their network accounts. While many students have already done so, we are asking faculty and staff to help inform students about the process and to encourage them to register online using Inside MATC.

Students can follow instructions on the MATC Website for information on how to activate their network accounts and use Inside MATC. They can either click on the “Inside MATC” link on the homepage for directions under, "Student First Time Log In," or see detailed instructions available through the new “Ask MATC” service on the website. Students also can visit the MATC Library or Student Help Desk for additional help.

Continuing students already have received their “enrollment appointment,” which is the start date for their registration period, via mail. On or after this date, students can register online or through traditional phone-in or paper methods. This week you may see MATC staff stationed in the hallways at Truax and DTEC to help inform students of the new online registration service.

Please encourage students to take advantage of our new online registration service. If a student has difficulty activating an account, he or she should contact the Technology Services Help Desk at (608) 246-6666 or Library Computer Help Desk at (608) 243-4444. For enrollment questions, call the Enrollment Center at (608) 246-6210.

Bringing Inside MATC and its customized services to students has been a significant and collaborative effort on the part of individuals and teams from Technology Services, Marketing and Enrollment Development, Learner Success and the Library. Thanks to everyone who contributed, and thank you for helping us “get the word out” on this new and exciting service.
