Many of you will remember Anchor Man's segment at Convocation about Eddy Bailey (son of MATC Business instructor Gail Bailey), who was a junior business student at UW when he succumbed to meningitis on November 12, 2000.
An Eddy Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund had been established, and a drive is currently under way to collect monies to donate to the MATC Foundation for a deserving business student. Eddy loved wearing shorts all year round, and in his spirit, all contributors will have the opportunity to wear shorts on November 14.
All donations can be directed to the Foundation Office in care of Mrs. Hertel for the Eddy Bailey Scholarship Memorial. Regional campuses can donate at the main offices with proceeds being sent to the Foundation Office.
Folks who donate a $1 or more will receive a (blue) wrist band as long as supplies are available indicating Meningitis Awareness and will also be presented with a pair of (paper) shorts to sign for the "shorts" display as recognition.
THEN, on November 14, for all contributors, remember to wear shorts that day to "show a little leg" to raise awareness about meningococcal disease and the new vaccine MENACTRA, and to show your support for business education.
A few of us did this last year and was great fun — please join us this year for this worthwhile cause. Our hope is to have a group photo taken at the various campuses that day of all contributors. |
