PART-TIME FACULTY: Spring 2007 Convocation
12/21/06

TO: Part-time Faculty:

First, thank you for your ongoing support of Madison Area Technical College and its students. Your contribution to our ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

Each semester, the College welcomes faculty back to a new term with a Convocation event. This event is designed to provide information, professional growth and time for networking. Spring semester 2007 will begin with Convocation on January 9.

On this day, the College comes together in the morning with a welcome from our president and a guest speaker, followed by an afternoon set aside for Leaner Success Center meetings. The second day of Convocation, January 10, will focus on academic planning. Learner Success will be engaged in activities to set the context for the creation of the College’s academic plan. We invite you to attend these days' activities.

Part-time teachers who, on the day of Convocation, are not scheduled to teach and attend Convocation activities, will be provided payment at the meeting rate for the number of hours they attend Convocation. Part-time teachers who are scheduled to teach on the day of Convocation and attend Convocation Day for at least the number of hours they are scheduled to teach on that day will not suffer a loss in pay. If you plan to attend, you must be scheduled to teach Spring semester 2007 in order to be paid for your hours of attendance. Part-time faculty will be paid for attendance at events up to 7 hours per day.

Additionally, you must notify your Center associate dean or director (see below). The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning has a schedule of activities posted on its website. Monday, December 22, 2006 (http://matcmadison.edu/cetl/). If you have questions, please contact your Center associate dean.

Best wishes for 2007.
