Delisa Scott Honored by Top Ladies of Distinction

In October 2006, the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Madison Chapter presented their Annual Orchid Awards at the Westside Club. The Madison Chapter is actively involved in various community projects and social issues.

Each year, the organization selects women in the Madison area that exhibit professionalism and a dedication to community service. These recipients are role models for young women in our community.

Delisa Huntley Scott was named the Education Honoree during the 2006 Award Ceremony. Delisa is a counselor and teacher at MATC. She has more than 25 years of higher education experience in Wisconsin. She enjoys teaching not only at work, but in the community and in church as well. She has provided workshops for high schools, churches and various community organization such a as Girl Power, African American Ethnic Academy and the Allied Dunn's Marsh and Vera Court Neighborhood Centers.

Delisa enjoys mentoring students of color. By building close relationships with these students, Delisa helps them become more successful students, parents and members of the community. She also supports students financially through the Essie Gully Scott Memorial Scholarship, established by her husband's family.

An active member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Delisa has been Vacation Bible School teacher and Sunday School teacher for more than 10 years. Her other roles include choir director and former assistant church school superintendent.

Delisa is married to James Scott, another member of the MATC team, for almost 30 years and they are the proud parents of two adult daughters, Erikka and Candace.

We'd like to applaud Delisa for her award and for all her outstanding community efforts!
