FORT ATKINSON TEACHERS EXPLORE MATC FACILITIES, OFFERINGS

Twelve Fort Atkinson teachers recently toured the Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Truax Campus to learn more about the college's facilities and program offerings. Teachers toured the campus, meeting instructors in a variety of programs including machine tooling, motorcycle/marine/small engine, printing, veterinary technician, court reporting and photography. They also visited the college's onsite, student-run bakery and retail shop, Olivia's Gifts.

The event, sponsored by the MATC School to Career Office, was part of a new initiative to partner with area K-12 districts and bring area teachers to the campus to learn more about the college.

For information on setting up a school district faculty tour, contact Gerri Wicklund at (608) 246-6336.

One of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College System's 16 colleges, MATC provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities, as well as customized employee training. With training in more than 100 career programs, the college awards associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates, and offers non-degree courses. MATC serves all or parts of 12 counties located in south-central Wisconsin and offers instruction through five campuses and other locations throughout the district.
