WAUNAKEE TEACHERS
EXPLORE MATC FACILITIES, OFFERINGS
Ten Waunakee teachers
recently toured the Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Truax Campus
to learn more about the college's facilities and program offerings and
to meet with MATC counselors and instructors. Teachers toured the campus,
meeting instructors in a variety of programs including machine tooling,
motorcycle/marine/ small engine, printing, veterinary technician, court
reporting and photography. They also visited the college's onsite, student-run
bakery and retail shop, Olivia's Gifts. see

MATC INSTRUCTOR MARLINE
PEARSON FEATURED IN PBS DOCUMENTARY ON MARRIAGE AND RELATIONSHIPS
Madison Area Technical
College instructor Marline Pearson and several of her students are featured
in a PBS documentary, "Marriage: Just a Piece of Paper?" Released
nationally in January for broadcast in various markets, the program is
scheduled to make its Wisconsin debut on Milwaukee Public Television (WMVS,
Channel 10) at 11 p.m. April 15. As of yet, no air date has been scheduled
in Madison. see press release

MATC OFFERS INTERNET OCCUPATIONS TRAINING
TO MEET DEMAND OF RAPIDLY GROWING TECHNOLOGY FIELD
Experts predict computer-related, Internet and information technology
occupations will continue to be among the fastest growing careers through
2006. Madison Area Technical College (MATC) is providing education in
several different skill areas designed to meet the need for skilled workers
in information technology fields created by the growth of the Internet
as a business tool. Through its Internet Occupations Certificates funded
by the Wisconsin Capacity Grant, MATC offers students the opportunity
to build a career in this growing field. see

COORDINATOR STRANSKY NAMED LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING COORDINATOR OF THE
YEAR
John R. Stransky,
coordinator for the Madison Area Technical College Protective Services
Department, has been named Law Enforcement Training Coordinator of the
Year by the Law Enforcment Training Officers' Association of Wisconsin,
Inc. (L.E.T.O.A). Stransky recently received the award at the organization's
spring convention at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Madison.

District Board Appointments;

During its annual board appointment process held March 16, the Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) District Board gained a new member, Gerald
R. McGowan of Fort Atkinson, and retained two members, Judith A.
Ecker of DeForest and Donald L. Heiliger of Stoughton, both
re-appointed for new terms. see

to the stage for its Madison debut March 15 with five performances filled
with terror and romance. Performances are scheduled for March 15, 16,

on Sunday, March 10, 1 4 p.m. at its Truax location in Madison.
A wide variety of seminars and displays will offer information on more
than 90 career programs, college preparation, financial aid and starting
