MATC District Board Approves 2002-2003 Budget
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) District
Board voted at its June 12 meeting to adopt the 2002-2003 fiscal year
budget for the college. The approval follows a public hearing held May
8. The budget of $136,713,500 includes an estimated mill rate of 1.39899,
which means that for every $100,000 in assessed property value, district
property owners will pay $139.90 in taxes to support MATC. Last year,
property owners paid $140.97 for every $100,000 in assessed value. The
estimated mill rate will be adjusted in October based on actual equalized
property valuation assessments. see

MATC Fire Protection
programs receive firetruck donation from Abbott Laboratories
Due
to a donation from an Abbott Laboratories, students in Madison Area Technical
College's (MATC) Fire Protection Technician and Fire Service Academy now
will gain hands-on experience with the college's first fully equipped
fire truck. While the college has had the use of fire trucks on loan from
area fire departments for several years, the fully equipped, bright yellow
1977 Ford pumper truck donated by Abbott Laboratories' North Chicago plant
is the first truck the college has owned outright. see

New Degree Program
Exclusively For Meeting and Event Management Careers Offered by Madison
Area Technical College
Wisconsin students now can earn an associate degree in the expanding
field of meeting and event management without leaving the state. Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) is offering the new degree with the support
of the Wisconsin Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI-WI
Chapter)see

President Clinton
to Meet With MATC Students, Staff in Ireland and Attend MATC and Fermanagh
"Sister College" Videoconference
On June 5, Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will meet with Madison
Area Technical College students and staff who are visiting Fermanagh College
in Northern Ireland. They will join staff and students from Fermanagh
College to discuss the"sister college" relationship between
MATC and Fermanagh. Part of the discussion will be videoconferenced between
the two colleges.see

MATC Offers Accelerated
Management Training
In today's business
community, there is a growing need for trained managers. Unfortunately,
the time crunch created by modern society offers individuals little time
to devote toward gaining additional training. In an effort to meet the
need for qualified supervisors, MATC is offering Supervisory Management
Fastrack, an accelerated management-training program. Applications are
currently being accepted for the program that begins in August. see
