MATC FIRST TO HOST
NEW PEOPLESOFT 8 INTERNET PRODUCT PREVIEW
Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) was selected to host the first preview of PeopleSofts
new pure internet eBusiness software product. On Wednesday, June 13, about
ten PeopleSoft officials visited MATCs Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson
Street, to hold the first of the corporations roadshows
for PeopleSoft 8, the pure internet architecture version of its college
and university enterprise resource planning software modules.
PeopleSoft 8 requires
no software on the client. According to PeopleSoft, this new software,
built on a pure internet architecture, enables universal access from any
web device and improves organizations bottom line performance by
reducing costs in deployment, maintenance and training. It allows organizations
to create collaborative networks of customers, suppliers, and employees
that can be accessed from anywhere at anytime with a web browser.
The PeopleSoft 8 Student
Administration and Contributor Relations software solutions for colleges
and universities will be premiered at PeopleSofts annual conference
to be held in late August in Atlanta.
Approximately 100 MATC and Wisconsin Technical College System employees
attended a morning product presentation conducted by PeopleSoft experts.
In the afternoon, 20 individuals made up of faculty, administrators and
students from the states technical colleges participated in hands-on
computer lab sessions. They used the new web-enabled products and offered
feedback to the PeopleSoft product planners.
While at MATC, PeopleSoft
also presented a check for $2,000 to the MATC Foundation as a contribution
for funding student success initiatives.
PeopleSoft will be conducting similar roadshows at the University of WisconsinMadison
and at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois.
In 1998, MATC joined with 10 other WTCS colleges to purchase the PeopleSoft
suite of software. The colleges are in the process of replacing existing
human resource, payroll, financial, and student systems with PeopleSoft
business solutions. To date, the PeopleSoft human resource, payroll and
financial systems have been implemented at MATC. MATC plans to begin implementing
the new PeopleSoft 8 web-enabled Student Administration system upon its
release.
