Highlights Health Care Careers Programs
offer entry-level careers in one year or less
According to the
Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the health services industry
is one of the state's 30 fastest growing industries. A number of entry-level
careers in the health industry require one year or less of college. Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) is presenting a Career Snapshots seminar
that focuses on these careers on Tuesday, September 18 from 6-8 pm at
the MATC Truax campus, 3550 Anderson Street. This free seminar will focus
on the Dental Assistant, Optometric Technician and Surgical Technician

MATC Barber/Cosmetology
Program Opens Salon at MATC Truax Campus
Free Haircuts Offered During Opening Week: January 22-25
In 1963, the Barber
Program at Madison Area Technical College began offering services at the
Downtown Education Center. In 1998, the Barber and Beauty programs merged
to form the Barber/Cosmetology Program. The students in this program have
been interested in offering similar services at the MATC-Truax Campus
due to the main campus' large student population. After much planning,
a salon will open on January 22 in the Mitby Theater dressing rooms at
the MATC-Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street. In celebration of this opening,
the students will offer free haircuts to students, staff and the general
public during the week of January 22.
