MATC "OPEN HOUSE"
OFFERS CAREER, EDUCATION INFORMATION AT TRUAX CAMPUS; In-Demand Career
Technologies, Classic Corvettes and Gas-Electric Auto Hybrids Are Featured
Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) will hold its annual Open House on Sunday, March 11, 1
Ð 4 p.m. at its Truax campus in Madison. A wide variety of seminars and
displays will offer information on more than 90 career programs, college
preparation, financial aid and starting studies toward a four-year degree.

Second Annual Bio-Link
Conference Features PCR-Testing Methods and Bioinformatics
Biotechnology professionals
from across the Midwest will attend the Bio-Link North-Central Region
conference in Madison February 28-March 2. Bio-Link is a National Science
Foundation project that is committed to the advancement of biotechnology
technician education. As it did last year, Madison Area Technical College
(MATC) is hosting the event. see

MATC Performing Arts Presents
Working
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Performing Arts will present Working,
a musical based on the book of the same name written by Studs Terkel.
Adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso, this energetic musical is brought
to life with the help of songs written by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant,
Mary Rodgers, Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor. Performances
will be held March 9-11 and 16-17 in MATC's Mitby Theater, located on
the MATC-Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street. see

Plays to be Presented as Inaugural Season of Theatreworks
New Programming Effort from MATC Performing Arts Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) Performing Arts is pleased to announce a major programming
effort. TheatreWorks, a new program of the MATC Theater Department
and MATC Performing Arts, is designed to foster and stage original plays.
By doing this, the college hopes to continue its tradition of providing
students and the public with innovative and challenging theater. The inaugural
season of TheatreWorks will feature three original plays written
by MATC faculty members; the first reading will take place on February
15th. see

MATC Global Horizons
Series Focuses on the Meaning of Africa
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Global Horizons Series will
present a series focusing on "What is the Meaning of Africa?" from February
12-22, 2001. The goal of the series will be to bring a variety of perspectives
to this provocative question. Issues will include both a historical examination
of the ways Africa has been seen by the West and a contemporary exploration
of African culture, society and politics. see
