MGE Announces Building Trades Scholarships
Five Madison Area
Technical College (MATC) students interested in careers in the building
trades will receive a boost from the Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) Building
Trades Scholarships beginning this fall. The $3,250 scholarship fund will
sponsor five students. Three of the $650 individual scholarships will
be awarded this fall semester and two more $650 scholarships will be given
out in the spring. see

MATC Performing Arts Holds Auditions
for Father of Fortune
Madison Area Technical College Performing Arts kicks off the 2001-2002
season with Father of Fortune, an original play by Wm. Patrick Barlow.
Open auditions for all roles will be held on Wednesday, September 5, and
Friday, September 7, 2001, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Mitby Theater
on the MATC Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street.

New School Year Starts with New Services at Madision
Area Technical College
The new school year starts Monday, August 27 at Madison Area Technical
College (MATC). Several improvements and new services will greet the anticipated
50,000 individuals served by the college each year.

Madison Area Technical College Offers Bachelors Degree
Completion Program
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) has entered into an alliance with
Franklin University to offer MATC students and alumni the opportunity
to earn bachelors degrees. By combining resources, the two institutions
will begin offering instruction this fall to students seeking degrees
in business administration, technical management, computer science, health
care management, management information sciences, public safety management
and digital communication.

Hosts WTCS Launch of eTech College of Wisconsin:
Tech Colleges Collaborate to Offer New Online Learning System
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) is hosting the public launch of
the Wisconsin Technical College Systems new eTech College of Wisconsin,
a new online learning system that combines online course offerings and
services from all of the states 16 technical colleges. At a press
conference to be held Tuesday, August 7 at 10 a.m. at MATCs Truax
facility, the WTCS will announce this exciting new venture that provides
students easier access to hundreds of courses. The new eTech College of
Wisconsin, located at htttp://www.eTechCollege.com, combines the flexibility
of online learning with the educational strength of the Wisconsin Technical
College System (WTCS). see

MATC Presents Distinguished Teacher Awards to Four
Faculty Members
Distinguished Service Citation also presented
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Foundation has presented Distinguished
Teacher Awards to four of the colleges faculty. The recipients include
three Madison residents, Economics Instructor Frederick M. Arnold; Math
Instructor Michael A. Bertrand; Veterinary Technician Instructor Kay M.
Bradley; and one Deerfield resident, Alternative Learning Instructor Christopher
M. Page. The Distinguished Teacher Awards were established in 1982 and
have recognized 50 faculty members for their contributions to the college
and its students. In addition, the Distinguished Service Citation was
awarded to the Spike Ehlers Family and the Madison Rotary Foundation for
extraordinary service and unique contributions to the college.
