MATC PRESENTS
SUPER SHOW 2002 "A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES"
Madison Area Technical College
(MATC) presents Super Show 2002, "A Night at the Movies," on
Friday, May 3, at 7:30pm. Super Show is an annual showcase featuring performances
by the MATC Community Show Choir, the MATC Swing Choir and the combined
college choirs of MATC and the University of Wisconsin-Rock County.
The show is held in the Mitby
Theater, located at MATC-Truax, 3550 Anderson St., and includes song
selections from popular movies. Tickets for "A Night at the Movies"
are $5 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and seniors, and are available
at the Mitby Theater Box Office or by calling (608) 243-4000.
This celebration of Hollywood music, includes songs from a wide variety
of movies including Rocky, An American Tail, The Rose, Pete's Dragon,
Titanic, The Specialist, Newsies, Sleepless in Seattle, Wizard of Oz,
Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Footloose.
Founded in 1980, the MATC Community Show Choir presents concerts of popular
music in the fall and spring of each year. A volunteer organization open
to all who love to sing, the choir has performed at New York's Lincoln
Center as part of Irving Berlin's 100th birthday concert and for Pope
John Paul while on a tour of Italy and Poland. Regionally, the choir performed
for the opening of the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison and
at the Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee.
Choir Director Jim Langkamp
has been a choral director and vocal music instructor for more than 20
years. He teaches at MATC in Madison and at UW Center Rock County in Janesville.
The choir's pianist is Susan Mielke, a professional Madison area accompanist
and instructor.
MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College System's
16 colleges. It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal
arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and
activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC provides training
in more than 100 career programs. It awards associate degrees, vocational
diplomas and certificates, and offers non-degree courses. The college
serves all or parts of 12 counties located in south-central Wisconsin
and offers instruction through five campuses and various other locations
throughout the district.
